Abstract:

The game is an activity where the child discovers life, participates in the social environment with his companions, structures his talents and knowledge. The games that have been played more in the street or in the natural environment in the past have now begun to be played online. This study was aimed at studying whether the levels of computer game addiction of high school students differ significantly according to gender, class level, family income level, personal computer possession variants, and the relationship between computer game addiction and responsibility behavior. The sample of the study consists of 352 volunteer students selected by the simple non-selective sample method from the 7th and 8th classes of students studying in five state high schools in the center of Aydın province. The data is collected with the Scale of Computer Game Addiction for Children and the Scale of Individual and Social Responsibility. The research finds that 53.4% of the sampling group are normal users, 41.4% are problematic users and 6.2% are computer game addicts. A negative and meaningful relationship has been revealed between the students' computer game dependency scores and the individual and social responsibility behavior scores at a weak level (r=,046) . It has been found that computer game addiction is changing in terms of gender, personal computer and smartphone possession; there is no significant difference in terms of class level (except the size of tasks) and family income level.
