Pers Büyük Kralı I. Dareios tahta çıktığında (MÖ 522) Yakındoğu uygarlıklarının tümü önceki Pers kralları tarafından Pers imparatorluğunun sınırlarına dâhil edilmişti. Dareios iktidarının ilk yıllarını imparatorluk topraklarında çıkan isyanları bastırmak için harcadı. Ancak Pers hakimiyeti henüz Avrupa’ya taşınmamıştı. Geniş imparatorluk topraklarından büyük bir ordu topladı. İskit ülkesine giden güzergahın üzerindeki topraklarda yaşayan Thrak kabilele-rini bazen diplomasi ile bazen de güç kullanarak boyun eğdirdi. Pers kralı I. Dareios’un İskit Seferi, Pers hakimiyetini Avrupa’ya taşımayı hedefleyen ilk askeri sefer oldu.
When the great Persian king Dareios I came out of the throne (522 BC), all the eastern civilizations were incorporated into the borders of the Persian empire by the former Persian kings. Dareios spent the first years of his power in suppressing the rebellions in the territory of the empire. However, the Persian rule has not yet moved to Europe. He gathered a large army from the vast empire territories. Thrak tribe-rini, who lived in the lands on the route to his country, was sometimes obedient with diplomacy and sometimes with power. The Scotch Journey of Persian King Dareios I was the first military flight aimed at transferring Persian sovereignty to Europe. The Persian king I passed his army from Asia to Europe through the ship-bridge he established in Bosphorus. Dareios passed the Istros River, through the ship-bridge built by the Hellenic ruled by the tyrants on the coast of Ionia, Aiolis and Hellespontos, and entered the Iscite country. He did not get a military success in the country where he was two months left and he was forced to return. This time is problematic in many ways, including cause, date, purpose, process and result. The purpose of this article is to pay attention to the problematic aspects of the journey.
