Abstract:

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder frequently complicated with ischemic heart disease. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the epidemiology and risk factors associated with ischemic heart disease in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2: I made a descriptive analysis of patients with and cardiovascular disease and a comparative analysis of patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 with and without cardiovascular disease through a retrospective observational case control study. There were analyzed 144 patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 hospitalized consecutively in Cluj-Napoca County Clinical Emergency Clinic, Diabetes, Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases Clinic in May-June 2017, with and without manifesting coronary ischemic disease. The statistical analysis was performed using IBM Statistics version 22, “P” was statistically significant at values <0.05 (confidence interval 95%). Diabetes mellitus has been associated with cardiovascular risk factor like : high blood pressure, obesity, hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia and weight gain.
