Abstract:

The Atlantic seashore of the Province of Buenos Aires is currently undergoing very many environmental issues derived mainly from a process of territorial organization that has been going on in parallel with the country's tourist development and increasing overcrowding. The absence of planning with respect to the advances of this activity, and the impact which it could have in the future, bullied by the logics of assets accumulation, have been the triggering factors of several conflicts, among which is the area's coast erosion. This paper will deal with the issues of the city of Mar del Tuyú, head city of the Partido de la Costa (County of the Coast), with an emphasis on finding out how the planning process of the coastal space has been carried out, in order to try and unravel the territorial heritage which has led to the aforementioned issues.
