In recent years, there have been more studies carried out regarding fertility preservation in gynecological cancers. Because of the increasing incidence of cancer and the increasing age of mothers, attention has been given to gynecological cancers detected during the reproductive period. Ovarian cancer is the seventh most common cancer worldwide and it causes more deaths than any other type of gynecological cancers. Although this cancer requires a difficult and complex treatment, various alternatives can be offered today to prospective mothers through developing technologies. Embryo cryopreservation, oocyte cryopreservation, and ovarian tissue cryopreservation are the treatments offered to patients, and these treatments continue to be researched and discussed to this day. Fertility-sparing treatment requires a multidisciplinary management team. This team includes oncology nurses and health-care professionals who provide both coordination and communication between units. Oncology nurses play a key role on this team. They give patients multifaceted care with training and counseling in diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. In this literature-based review, fertility preservation approaches in ovarian cancer and the role of nurses are discussed.
