Abstract:

The power phenomenon has changed according to different conditions throughout human history. While landownership in agricultural societies was accepted as a sign of power and required the use of military force, in the post-Industrial Revolution societies the power indicator evolved into mechanization and required economic power. In the said period, problems that could not be solved by using military power (such as raw material procurement, production of excess production etc.) came into question. The process of social development has led to the transfer of resources for different purposes, from the creation of a consumption society to the sale of surplus production to post-war human relations. The transfer of resources, which started in the form of assistance, has led especially the developing countries to the debt spiral in time. The study examines the importance of the nature of the foreign aid/debts used in developing countries on the economic and political independence of the countries, from Ottoman to present day Turkey.
