Light verbs are a grammar subject that is considered important in foreign language education but is very difficult to acquire. For this reason, various methods and techniques should be tried in teaching light verbs. This study deals with light verbs within the scope of Turkish-German comparative method, in which learners can find similarities and differences between languages. In this study, quantitative and qualitative research methods together with action research are used and applied. Within this context, the sample consists of 45 students studying at Marmara University German Language Education in 2020-2021 Spring semester. During the 12-week study period, the students were taughtusing the Contrastive Light Verb Teaching Model developed in the study. The research findings indicated that the Contrastive Light Verb Teaching Model is more effective than the traditional translation method in understanding light verbs structurally, syntactically and semantically, and in using them functionally in sentences.
