Abstract:

A STUDY ON THE CAUSES OF INFANT DEATH ABSTRACT: Purpose: It is not possible to single out any factor in infant deaths: many factors and events have a direct or indirect effect. The aim of our study was to determine infant deaths and the influencing factors in the town of Gölbaşı, Ankara. Materials and Methods: The study was performed in Gölbaşı and the surrounding villages as a nested case-control study. A questionnaire form was used for data collection. The study was conducted by visiting eachhouse and conducting face-to-face interviews. Logistic regression analysis was carried out on the factors thought to be influencing infant deaths. Results: The place of the birth and the person preconditioned for the delivery (OR 1.495, 95% CI 1.561-161.466), the attendance of the infant at healthcare checks (OR 4.481, 95% CI 1.359-14.772), whether the infant was nursed (OR 42.513, 95% CI 11.833-152.745), the number of pregnancies of the mother (OR 1.781, 95% CI 1.561-161.466), and low birth weight (OR 4.715, 95% CI 1.072-20.741) were found to affect infant deaths. The education level of the mother, the age when the mother became pregnant, and the gender of the infant had no significant effect on infant deaths. Conclusion: More than one factor affects infant deaths. Correct analysis of these factors is of importance for preventing infant deaths.  Key words: Infant Death, Influencing Factors, Mother’s Milk.

Abstract:

Objective: It is impossible to speak of a single factor that affects baby deaths. Many factors and events directly or indirectly affect baby deaths. The purpose of this research is to identify the factors affecting baby deaths and baby deaths in the Gölbaşı district of Ankara: The work was done in the Gölbaşı centers and villages. The research is nested type case control work. Forms are used to collect data. The research was done through the door door, face-to-face conversation technique. The logistical regression analysis was conducted on the factors that were considered to have an impact on baby deaths. The findings: the baby deaths, the place of birth and the person at birth (O.R.1,495, 95% GA.1,561-161,466), the condition of passing the health check of babies (O.R.4,481, 95% GA. 1,359-14,772), the breastfeeding status of babies (O.R.42,513, 95% GA.11,833-152,745), the pregnancy numbers of mothers (O.R.1,781, 95% GA.1,561-161,466) and the low birth weight (O.R.4,715, 95% GA.1,072-20,741) were found to be effective, while the educational status of mothers, the pregnancy age of mothers, the gender of babies were not effective. The result: there are more than one factors that affect baby deaths. The ability to correctly analyze these factors is of great importance in the prevention of baby deaths. Keywords: Baby Death, Influential Factors, Mother Milk.
