ÜNİVERSİTE ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN YAŞLI AYRIMCILIĞINA İLİŞKİN TUTUMLARININ BELİRLENMESİ

Abstract:

Bu araştırmanın amacı, yaşlılık bilimi ve yaşlı bakımı üzerine eğitim alan Gerontoloji bölümü ve Yaşlı Bakım programı öğrencileri ile Sağlık Yüksekokulu’nda farklı programlarda eğitim alan üniversite öğrencilerinin yaşlı ayrımcılığına ilişkin tutumlarını belirlemektir. Tanımlayıcı tipteki bu araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Gerontoloji Bölümü, Yaşlı Bakımı Programı ve Sağlık Hizmetleri Meslek Yüksekokulunda diğer programlarda eğitim-öğretim gören toplam 780 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama araçları olarak öğrenci bilgi formu ve Yaşlı Ayrımcılığı Tutum Ölçeği formu (YATÖ) kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizi SPSS-23 paket programı ile elde edilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgulara göre üniversite öğrencilerinin yaşlı ayrımcılığına yönelik çoğunlukla olumlu tutum sergilediği ve yaşlı ayrımcılığı tutum ölçeği puanları ile öğrencilerin cinsiyet, sınıf düzeyi, öğrenim görülen bölümü, mezuniyet sonrası yaşlı yetişkin ile araştırma isteği değişkenleri arasında anlamlı farklılık olduğu tespit edilmiştir (p<0.05). Öğrencilerin sınıf düzeyleri arttıkça olumlu ayrımcılık tutum puanlarının da arttığı, özellikle ikinci sınıfta okuyan Gerontoloji bölümü öğrencilerinin yaşlı ayrımcılığına ilişkin olumlu tutumlarının diğer öğrencilere göre sıralama ortalamalarının daha yüksek olduğu ve bu farkın istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olduğu bulunmuştur. Bu araştırmada Gerontoloji Bölümü, Yaşlı Bakımı Programı ve Sağlık Hizmetleri Meslek Yüksekokulunda diğer programlarda eğitim-öğretim gören öğrencilerin, yaşlı ayrımcılığına ilişkin tutumlarının çoğunlukla olumlu yönde olduğu ortaya konulmuştur.

The purpose of this research is to determine the attitudes of the Gerontology Department and the Elderly Care Program students who study on age science and age care and university students who study in different programs at the High School of Health regarding age discrimination. The study group of this research of the defining type consists of a total of 780 students who are trained and taught in other programs at the Department of Gerontology, the Senior Care Program and the Health Services Professional High School. Data collection tools have been used as the student information form and the age discrimination attitude scale form (YATÖ). The data analysis was obtained through the SPSS-23 package program. This study found that students who are trained and taught in other programs at the Department of Gerontology, the Elderly Care Program and the Health Services Professional High School, their attitudes towards elderly discrimination are mostly in a positive direction.

Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to determine the attitudes of the students of the Department of Gerontology and the Elderly Care Program, who are educated on the science of aging and elderly care, and the university students who study in different programs at the School of Health, towards ageism. The study group of this descriptive study consists of a total of 780 students studying at the Department of Gerontology, Elderly Care Program and Health Services Vocational School in other programs. Student information form and Ageism Attitude Scale (AAS) were used as data collection tools. The analysis of the data was obtained with the SPSS-23 package program. According to the findings obtained from the research; It was determined that university students mostly showed a positive attitude towards ageism and there was a significant difference between the ageism attitude scale scores and the variables of gender, grade level, department of education, post-graduation old adult and research desire (p<0.05). It was found that as the grade levels of the students increased, the positive discrimination attitude scores increased, especially the second-year Gerontology students' positive attitudes towards ageism were higher than the other students and this difference was statistically significant. In this study, it was revealed that the attitudes of the students studying in Gerontology Department, Elderly Care Program and Health Services Vocational School in other programs are mostly positive.
