Namık Kemal, Tanzimat döneminde ön plana çıkmış, yaptıkları ve yazdıkları hem Türk tarihinde hem de yenileşen Türk edebiyatında yer etmiştir. Devletin kurtuluşu ve devamlılığı için aradığı çözümü, Osmanlının mevcut yönetim biçiminde yapılacak değişiklikte bulmuştur. Bu anlayış doğrultusunda eserler kaleme almıştır. Onun nesir türündeki eserleri içinde adı anılmaya değer bir eseri de Rüya’dır. Magosa sürgününde iken kaleme aldığı bu eser hürriyetin gerçekleşmesini hayal ettiği, ütopik unsurları da içeren bir rüya olarak kurgulanmıştır. Bu çalışmada önce ütopyaya dair genel bilgiler verilmiş ardından Namık Kemal’in yaşamış olduğu dönem, bu dönemin onun üzerindeki tesiri ve memlekete getirdiği yenilikler konu edilmiş daha sonra Rüya’nın fikir örgüsü ele alınarak barındırdığı ütopik unsurlar tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır.
Namık Kemal came to the forefront during the Tanzimat period and took a place both in Turkish history and in the modernizing Turkish literature with his works and writings. He found the solution he sought for the salvation and continuity of the state in the change to be made in the current administration of the Ottoman Empire. He wrote works in line with this understanding. Among his prose works, one of his works worth mentioning is Rüya. This work, which he wrote while in exile in Famagusta, is a dream in which he dreams of the realization of freedom, including utopian elements. In this study, firstly, general information about utopia is given, then the period in which Namık Kemal lived, the effect of this period on him and the innovations he brought to the country are discussed. Afterwards, the utopian elements of the work named Rüya are tried to be determined by considering the idea.
