Concomitant with the process of transition to information society, nowadays we see the impact of technological development mostly on the field of information and communication technology. Through the internet technologies, various communication forms in our lives have been conveyed to a virtuous dimension. Social networks have offered new opportunities to users for identifying themselves, developing new social relationships, and even forming over again learning-teaching process. Providing new opportunities and conveniences in educational settings, the rapidly developing information and communication technologies, entail the educators to accommodate themselves to the novice technology and to make use of them effectively. This study, based on the literature review, aims to determine the functionality of social networks in the educational environment which triggers the professional developments of educators and school managers; and to make some recommendations for better utilization of social networks.
