Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the views of social workers on ethical dilemmas and ethical decision making. Qualitative method was used in this study. The sample of the research consists of 15 social workers who are reached through snowball sampling and working in different fields. Demographic information form and semi-structured interview form were used in the study. The data obtained in the study were collected in 4 themes: in terms of profession, in terms of the field of study, in terms of attitude and in terms of social policy. It was found that all of the participants faced ethical dilemmas, they generally thought of the benefit of the client, they needed supervision in the face of ethical dilemma, they gave importance to the role of advocacy, and they found in-service training necessary. According to the findings, it is recommended to provide in-service training to social workers, to add more course hours on ethics to the curricula, to increase academic studies, to regulate policy and legislation by considering ethical violations, and to increase supervision support for social workers.
