Abstract:

Hz. Ibrahim's wife The practice of female circumcision, which is stated to be inherited from Hagar, was widely practiced among Arabs in the pre-Islamic period. Although there is no provision in the Qur'an regarding the practice of female circumcision, In many hadiths narrated from the Prophet, companions and followers, it is understood that this practice continued in the post-Islamic period. Some narrations about female circumcision and the circumcision ceremony organized after it are merfū, and some other narrations are mawqūf and maqtū hadiths. All of these narrations are about the tradition of female circumcision, It shows that it was widely practiced in the periods of the Prophet, Companions and Tabi'un. In this study, hadith and historical sources regarding the circumcision of women were used, and besides hadith commentaries, tafsir and fiqh works were also used to determine the views of the scholars who expressed their opinions about these narrations.
