Abstract:

Words in the language undergo various changes in terms of structural, phonetic and, semantic over time. In addition to these changes that the word is exposed to, etymology is also concerned with issues such as in which texts and how we first encountered the word, how the word progresses in the historical process of language. The first word that we can follow, fully semantically corresponds to the word mole, which is discussed in this study, is the words kösürge and kösürgen used in Middle Turkish. In the historical process, it has appeared in Turkish written languages in the form of kösüz temek, közsüz sebek,gözsüz sepet, gözsüz tebek and finally, köstebek, which is its current form. There are many different usage forms of the word in dialects. In this study, the semantic and structural changes of the words that correspond to the meaning of mole in the historical written languages and contemporary dialects of Turkish were examined in detail and it was aimed that the findings obtained would be a source for the field of etymology.
