Kültürün tanımı ve kullanımı her disiplinin bu kavramla ne anlatmak istediğine ve bu kavramı nasıl kullandığına göre değişse de, en yaygın tanımıyla kültür, bilgi, inanç, sanat, ahlak, hukuk, örf ve adetlerden ve insanın toplumum bir üyesi olarak elde ettiği yeteneklerden oluşmuş karmaşık bir bütün insanoğlunun ihtiyaçlarını gidermek amacıyla meydana getirdiği maddi ve manevi unsurların tamamıdır. Bu karmaşık bütünde toplumun çeşitlilik içeren bileşenleri önemli roller üstlenerek “kültürel çeşitlilik” kavramını gündeme getirmektedir. Kültürel çeşitlilik, kültürün inanç, kimlik, değer, dil, din, yaşam biçimi, sanat, demografik unsurlar vb. bileşenlerindeki farklılıkları “zenginlik” olarak değerlendirerek, kendi inanç ve uygulama sistemlerine göre yaşayan bilinçli ve iyi örgütlenmiş toplulukları kapsayan ve bu toplulukları güçlendirerek tanımayı destekleyen bir yaklaşımdır. Çağdaş müzeler, postmodernizmin ve “yaşayan müze” yaklaşımının etkisiyle toplumla ve geçmişle yüzleşen, koleksiyonları yorumlayan, demokratik, insan haklarına saygılı ve çoğulcu bir kuruluş olma çabasındadır. Nesneden çok, “insan için var olma” amacındaki müzeler toplumsal dışlama ve ötekileştirme söylemlerini ortadan kaldırmak için postmodernizmin de etkisiyle kültürel çeşitliliğe vurgu yapmaktadır. Bu bağlamda birlikte yaşama platformu oluşturma amacına odaklanan ve önyargı, ayrımcılık ve ırkçılık gibi sorunları gidermek için çalışmalar yapan müzeler, Kültürel Çeşitlilik Evrensel Bildirgesi ve Kültürel İfadelerin Çeşitliliğinin Korunması ve Geliştirilmesi Sözleşmesi’nden hareketle koleksiyonlarını kültürel çeşitlilik yaklaşımıyla yönetmekte sergi tasarımlarını, eğitsel etkinliklerini ve tanıtım çalışmalarını bu doğrultuda planlamaktadır. Bu gelişmelerden hareketle T.C. Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı’na bağlı özel müzelerin toplumsal işlevleri çerçevesinde kültürel çeşitliliği gündeme getirdikleri müzecilik çalışmaları gerçekleştirdikleri izlenmiştir. Bu çalışma, müzecilikte kültürel çeşitliliğe ilişkin güncel uygulama örnekleri bağlamında Türkiye’deki özel müzelerin kültürel çeşitlilik olgusuna bakışını incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır.
Although the definition and use of culture vary according to what each discipline wants to describe with this concept and how it uses this concept, the most common definition of culture, knowledge, faith, art, morality, law, art and practice is a complex whole of the abilities that man as a member of the society acquires; it is the whole of the material and spiritual elements that mankind creates in order to meet the needs. In this complex whole, the components of the diversity of society take important roles, bringing the concept of "cultural diversity" to the agenda. Cultural diversity, the belief of culture, identity, value, language, religion, lifestyle, art, demographic elements, etc. It is an approach that covers conscious and well-organized communities living according to their own beliefs and practices, by evaluating the differences in their components as "richness" and supporting recognition by strengthening these communities. Contemporary museums are striving to be a democratic, respectful and multi-faceted organization that faces society and the past under the influence of postmodernism and the "live museum" approach. More than anything, the museums aimed at "existence for man" emphasize cultural diversity by the effect of postmodernism to eliminate social exclusion and self-destructing speeches. In this context, the museums, focused on the purpose of creating a living platform together and working to address problems such as prejudice, discrimination and racism, manage their collections in a cultural diversity approach, by means of the Universal Declaration of Cultural Diversity and the Convention on the Protection and Development of Diversity of Cultural Expression; they plan exhibition designs, educational events and promotional works in this direction. This is the development of T.C. The special museums associated with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism have been observed in the framework of social functions of cultural diversity. This study aims to explore the view of the cultural diversity phenomenon of the private museums in Turkey in the context of current examples of cultural diversity in the museum.
