Objectives: The e-learning readiness of an individual; can be thought as the ability to utilize the possibilities of information and communication technologies (ICT). The purpose of this study is to determine the level of e-learning readiness of medical educators. Materials and Methods: This study is a descriptive research and data was collected from 106 volunteer faculty members by using convenience sampling method. The data collection tool includes demographic information, the technologies that faculty members have, and optional & open-ended questions that determine the use of these technologies. In addition, the e-learning readiness scale (ELRS) was used for the faculty members. The data were analyzed with 95% confidence interval by using SPSS 17.0 software. Results: The mean age of the participants was around 49 and the 58% were females. Faculty members’ self-efficacy of ICT usage was high (BİTKÖY: 5.91 ± 1.08). However, their self-confidence in e-learning (EOKG: 2.94 ± 1.32) and their attitudes towards e-learning (EOYT: 3.82 ± 1.39) was very low. In addition, their training need for e-learning (EOYEI: 4.34 ± 1.50) was also high. The instructors have sufficient technological equipment and they also have constant internet connection. Instructors use the internet mostly for scientific studies (85%) during the day. Women in the EOKG subscale have significantly lower levels of self-confidence than men (t(99) = 2.251; p <0.05). Those with previous e-learning experience as educators have higher levels of ELRS than those with no experience for each of the subscales. Conclusion: The self-efficacy of computer and internet usage of the faculty members in Gazi University Faculty of Medicine was high. Also, they reach latest sources in their scientific studies and while preparing the course materials. But they have very low level of self-confidence in e-learning and attitudes toward e-learning. They are in need of training about e-learning. Continuous medical education should be planned regularly about the following subjects: the legal issues related to e-learning, content/learning management systems, online course design, electronic course material preparation and development. In order for investments and efforts not to be wasted; each institution should determine the level of e-readiness of its stakeholders and plan the necessary training, resources and basic services in this framework.
