Abstract:

In this study, the retirement process in our country and its effects on retirees are discussed in different dimensions. Aging population is one of the most important demographic events that stand out in the current century. Due to the developments in the field of medicine in the century we live, while the human life is prolonged, birth rates decrease and as a result, the general number of the elderly population is gradually increasing. The increase in the number of the elderly population, especially the health field, affects the working life, the social security area, the socio-cultural structure from education and environmental issues, and family life, in short, all parts of the society positively or negatively. The retirement period is also a process that mostly corresponds to the aging period. The retirement period, which is a new beginning with the end of the working life, is not only an economic dimension but also a legal, psychological, social and physical dimension. In our study, the definition of retirement, retirement conditions in our country and the legal, psychological, social, economic and physical dimensions of retirement are examined separately.
