Abstract:

This study points to the fact that in this period we are in and defined as post-truth, the false-documentary film type, which covers both the characteristics of the fictional and documentary genre, encourages the audience to question the truth by making them doubtful. In this framework, the definition of the age, first called after truth, is revealed. Then in the cinema the issues of reality and truth connections were tried to be revealed and the false documentary was defined as a type of cinema that presents fictional events in a documentary format. Contrary to the approach to questioning the truth, the problem of the age, and to stay away from doubt, the false-documentary has been referred to the perception that it creates in the audience because of the questioning of the reality in the cinema and the fact that the unreal is described as true. Specifically with the manipulative use of visual media, the viewers' perception can be easily changed while the media should have a problem like telling the facts, the discussions draw attention to the need for a critical viewpoint. In this context, the influence of reflection is emphasized with the structure that hides the fake-documentary storage. As a kind of reality questioned, it has been noted that false-documentary can play an important role in gaining a critical perspective in the characteristic of the post-reality age that invites the audience to question reality and that the audience can play a bridge role in the connection between reality and reality.
