Abstract Pediatrics departments that will be used frequently by children and parents until an adult are among the most used part of the hospital. However, it is seen that the interior design of the most of the hospitals has not changed although user group is quite different from the user groups in the other sections. Children created a bias against this structure because fear of doctors and hospitals that occur in children by their families and the environment. Therefore, it is important to design places that providing visual comfort conditions and a sense of security, starting from the clinic’s entrance. In light of this information, it has been focused on use of color and light appropriate on child psychology and analyzed on the examples in the waiting area which children spend the most time of hospitals. In the study, literature search has been made about child, child psychology, child and space and the field research have been identified. In this study used survey method, 200 children were asked questions may determine the psychological impact of the environment in pediatric clinics of hospital of two different types. The answers were analyzed with SPSS by applying Pearson’s chi-square test. In accordance with the obtained data, it was concluded that lighting and color psychologically affect the child positively or negatively at pediatric clinic waiting areas.
