Abstract This article aims to present the intercultural experience of teletandem between students from the Federal University of Campina Grande and the Federal University of Latin American Integration. We reflect on how this tool can contribute to the teaching/learning of foreign languages, providing authentic scenarios of interaction among students and promoting autonomy, reciprocity and collaboration among peers. With this experience report we hope to register, in a critical way, and based on Paulo Freire's concepts, the implementation process of teletandem between two higher education institutions in Brazil, highlighting the potentiality of the use of technologies in the classroom, but also its challenges and possible obstacles. At the same time, we highlight the richness of this intercultural activity to promote exchange and reflection on the demands, challenges and struggles of peoples in Latin America.
