Concept maps are teaching-learning tools which are used to be presented with a graphical method of concepts and the relationships between these concepts in a particular topic. Concept maps in the teaching process are teaching techniques which aim to provide concrete datas making visual the relationships between information and concepts in a hierarchical structure from general to specific. This tecnique is utilized for clinical practise in nursing education, case reports and lectures. Use of concept maps in the preparation of case studies and nursing care plans make it easy to learn by improving analyze and synthesize ability of students. In this article, nursing care plan of a patient with chronic renal failure (CRF) is considered by using concept map. On the concept map, the relationships are shown basic concepts like the physiopathology, etiology, symptoms, laboratory findings of the CRF between with nursing diagnosis and nursing care. As a result; the concept maps to provide holistic patient care in students could be used as an effective teaching learning tool in preparation, presentation and discussion of nursing care plans.
