Özet:

Linguistic structures such as proverbs, idioms, reduplications, relational words, onomatopoeic words that make up the vocabulary of a language bear the most important traces of the language and culture in which it was born. By analyzing these traces, the sound-form-meaning changes in that language in the historical process as well as cultural values can be revealed and the structural features of the language can be reached. The most appropriate and correct way that the vocabulary elements of a language appear is in the verbal-written cultural products given in that language. In the pre-school period, which is a critical period for language development, the more qualified stimuli the child encounters, the more her/his vocabulary and conceptual field can expand. The most basic and easily accessible source that contains linguistic and visual stimuli is children’s literature works. Therefore, by analyzing the linguistic units in these works, situations such as the level of the language, how to benefit from the vocabulary elements, semantic values, whether they are suitable for the child reader can be determined. The purpose of this study is to analyze the novel series called “Dolunay Dedektifleri” by Mavisel Yener, who has brought original works to Turkish children’s literature and stands out with both his identity as an author and a poet, in terms of its vocabulary elements, as well as to evaluate the semantic contributions to the fictional text through these elements. In terms of creating continuity and integrity, the author’s novel series was chosen as the object of the study. In this descriptive study, the scanning method was used on a fictional structure. First of all, Mavisel Yener’s six children’s literature books that constitute the “Dolunay Dedektifleri” were scanned from the beginning to the end and the vocabulary elements included in them were determined and divided within themselves. Afterwards, the semantic contributions of the language and expression features and vocabulary elements in the books to the fictional text were evaluate and interpreted using support from examples from the texts. A total of 502 elements were identified in the novels, including 6 proverbs, 230 idioms, 160 reduplications, 58 onomatopoeic words, 48 relational words. Although the main purpose of the study is not to quantify the vocabulary in the books, the most frequently used linguistic structures in the books as a result of the analysis have been determined to be idioms and reduplications and the least frequent of them has been observed to be proverbs. In the study, it is stated that the author’s books reflect the vocabulary of Turkish and that he adds originality, fluency, poetry and richness to his expression by using these elements. It was concluded that the books are capable of expanding the vocabulary and conceptual field of the child reader.
