Abstract:

The aim of the study is to compare the learning and studying strategies of students with their teachers who have different tendencies of attitudes (positive-negative). The research was conducted between 2016-2019 in one of the private schools both in Ankara and Izmir. 434 fourth grade students and 18 fourth grade teachers participated in the study. The data of the research was obtained with the Minnesota Teacher Attitude Inventory adapted to Turkish by Aydın (1993) and the Learning and Studying Strategies Inventory developed by Şen (2006). T test in comparing the attitude scores towards the teaching profession by gender, two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) in determining whether the attitudes of teachers and the scores of general and sub-dimensions that students in their classes obtained from the scale of learning and studying strategies differ, and lastly, Post-Hoc test to determine in which group the difference in student scores was in terms of gender was used. As a result of the study, there was a significant difference in favor of women in the scores of the teaching attitude scale, the scores of students in the classroom of teachers with positive attitude were significantly different from the students in the class of teachers who had a negative attitude in both the general and the comprehension sub-dimensions of the scale, in favor of the scores of female students in the classroom of teachers with positive attitudes, it was found to be a significant difference.
