Bu çalışmada, Türkiye ekonomisinde dış borçlar ile ekonomik büyüme, cari açık ve finansal gelişme arasındaki ilişki ARDL eşbütünleşme yöntemi ile incelenmektedir. Çalışma 1998:Q1-2019:Q2 dönemini kapsamaktadır. Çalışmada elde edilen ekonometrik bulgulara göre, dış borçlanma ile ekonomik büyüme, cari açık ve finansal gelişme arasında eşbütünleşme ilişkisi mevcuttur. Buna göre, uzun dönemde ekonomik büyüme ve finansal gelişme ile dış borçlanma arasında pozitif ilişki, cari açık ile dış borçlanma arasında negatif ilişki tespit edilmiştir. Bu sonuçlar, Türkiye ekonomisinde tasarrufların yatırımları finanse etmeye yetmediğini, ithalata bağımlı üretim yapısının mevcut olduğunu ve ekonominin borçla büyüyebildiğini göstermektedir.
In this study, the relationship between external debt and economic growth, current account deficit, and financial development is analyzed by ARDL cointegration method in Turkey. The study covers the period 1998:Q1-2019:Q2. According to the econometric findings obtained in the study, there is a cointegration relationship between external debt and economic growth, current account deficit and financial development. Accordingly, a positive relationship between economic growth and financial development and external debt in the long run, and a negative relationship between current account deficit and external debt were found. The results implies that national savings is insufficient financing the investments in Turkey. In addition to that there is an import-dependent production structure and that the economy can grow with debt.
