Abstract:

The profession of a  Prison Service officer belongs to the public trust positions and is associated with the social mission of the penitentiary system. Choosing the path of career officers should identify themselves with the mission of the penitentiary system and follow the pro-social motivation. The paper presents the results of the research on pro-social motivation of officers. 617 respondents were examined using a diagnostic survey, using a questionnaire of our own design. It was established to what extent officers identify with the mission of the penitentiary system, their interests in science representing the essence of the prison system (criminology, rehabilitation, law), the willingness to act for the society in the fight against pathology, motivation to assist prisoners and their rehabilitation and improvement.
