Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye’deki devlet ve vakıf üniversitelerinin fakülte, yüksekokul ve meslek yüksekokulu düzeylerinde turizm eğitimi verilen bölümlerindeki akademik personelin eğitim profillerinin ortaya konulmasıdır. Araştırmada veri toplama tekniği olarak nitel araştırma desenlerinden betimsel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Yüksek Öğretim Kurulu’nun (YÖK) internet sitesinden elde edilen verilere göre mezuniyet bilgilerine ulaşılabilen akademik personelin yüzde 60,5’inin lisans, yüzde 58,8’inin yüksek lisans ve yüzde 58,2’sinin doktora derecesinin turizm alanında olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca akademik personellerin yüzde 33,6’sının hiç turizm eğitimi almadığı ve yüzde 36,2’sinin lisans, yüksek lisans ve doktora eğitimlerini turizm alanında gerçekleştirdiği tespit edilmiştir. Turizm eğitim kurumlarında turizm alanından sonra en çok işletme ve gıda mühendisliği /gıda bölümü alanından mezunların istihdam edildiği anlaşılmaktadır.
The aim of this study is to reveal the educational profiles of academic staff in tourism education departments at different education levels (faculty, college, vocational school) of state and private universities in Turkey. Descriptive survey model, one of the qualitative research designs, was used as the data collection technique in the research. According to the data obtained from the website of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) (graduate information of academic staff can be accessed); ıt was determined that 60.5 percent had a bachelor's degree, 58.8 percent had a master's degree and 58.2 percent had a doctorate degree in the field of tourism. Additionally, 33.6 percent of academic staff have not received tourism education at any level. On the other hand, it was determined that 36.2 percent of them completed their undergraduate, graduate and doctoral education in the field of tourism. It is understood that graduates from business administration and food engineering/food departments are the most employed in tourism education institutions, after tourism.
