Irisin, today defined as myokine, is a proteolithic product of fibronectin type III domain 5 protein, and through exercise it turns white fat tissue cells into brown fat tissue cells. This increases energy consumption and leads to heat production. In the first studies it was considered as an alternative to the treatment of diseases such as iris, obesity and type 2 diabetes. But in subsequent studies, it has been observed that after the use of different types of exercise in specific patients groups, the iris has caused contradictory results. Therefore, discussions about the metabolic effects of the iris and its role on obesity continue. In particular, there are very few studies on the effects of the iris on the role of obesity. In this collection, we discuss the structure, synthesis and biochemical effects of the iris, and we summarize studies on the effects of the iris on obesity, gender and exercise.
