Çağdaş Türk şiirinde, 1970’lerin sonunda yayımlamaya başladığı şiir kitaplarıyla adından söz ettirmeye başlayan Metin Altıok, daha çok lirik, duyarlı, melankolik ve trajik yönü ağır basan şiirleriyle ön plâna çıkmış bir şairdir. Altıok’un şiirleri aşk, sevgi, acı, yalnızlık, yabancılaşma, melankoli, ölüm gibi izlekler etrafında şekillense de onun şiirlerinde sıklıkla tekrar edilen bir diğer izlek sürgün/sürgün olma halidir. Kendisini bir yere ait hissedemeyen, sürekli bir göçebe ve kaçış halinde olan şairin bu duygusunu besleyen en önemli unsur özyaşamöyküsüdür. Çocukluğunda anne sevgisinden mahrum kalan şair, bütün yaşamı boyunca bu duygunun eksikliğini hissetmiş, annesi ile kuramadığı sevgi bağını daha sonraki ilişkilerinde de bir türlü tamamlayamamıştır. Bununla birlikte şairin felsefe öğretmeni olarak hiç beklemediği bir yere, şaire göre uzak bir taşra şehri olan Bingöl’e atanması, uzun yıllar Bingöl’de kızı Zeynep’ten uzak geçen yıllar, hiç bilmediği yeni bir kültür ve coğrafyaya olan uyumu/uyumsuzluğu da bu sürgünlük duygusunu besleyen bir diğer durumdur. Bu çalışma Metin Altıok’un özyaşamöyküsünden yola çıkarak, şairin şiirlerinde sıklıkla tekrar edilen sürgünlük izleğini besleyen unsurları okuma çabasıdır.
In Contemporary Turkish poetry, Metin Altıok, who began to mention his name with his poem books he began to publish in the late 1970s, is a poet who has come to the forefront with his poems that are more lyrical, sensitive, melancholic and tragic. Altıok’s poems are shaped around traces like love, love, suffering, loneliness, alienation, melancholy, death, but another trace that is often repeated in his poems is the state of expulsion. It is an important element that feeds this feeling of a poet who is not feeling belonging to a place, who is constantly immigrant and escaping. The poet, who was deprived of the mother's love in his childhood, has felt the lack of this feeling throughout his life, and has not completed the love bond he could not establish with his mother in any way in his later relationships. However, a place that the poet as a teacher of philosophy has never expected, the assignment to Bingöl, a city that is far from the castle, the years that have passed far from his daughter Zeynep in Bingöl for many years, a new culture that he has never known, and the harmony/discompatibility with the geography is also another situation that feeds this feeling of deportation. This work is an effort to read the elements that feed the follow-up of exile that is frequently repeated in the poems of the poet, starting from the autobiography of the text of Altıok.
