Geleceğin bilimsel okuryazar nesillerini yetiştiren fen bilimleri öğretmenlerinin, bilimsel okuryazarlığın gereği olan biyoteknolojik gelişmeler ile ilgili tutumlarını ve bu konularla ilgili bilinçli kararlar verebilmeleri için, etik değerleri ne derece kullandıklarının belirlenmesi önemlidir. Bu çalışmada Fen Bilimleri öğretmenlerinin biyoteknoloji, genetik mühendisliği ve alt dalları hakkında bilgileri tutumları ve biyoetik görüşleri ile ilgili bakış açılarına katkı sağlayacağı düşünülen Biyoteknolojinin Renkleri eğitim programı uygulamıştır. Fen Bilimleri öğretmenlerin çalışma öncesi ve sonrası biyoteknolojiye yönelik tutumları ve biyoetik değerleri ile eğitime yönelik görüşleri çalışmanın amacı olarak belirlenmiştir. Projenin çalışma gurubunu Türkiye’nin çeşitli illerinde özel veya kamuda kurumlarında çalışan 25 Fen Bilimleri öğretmeni oluşturmuştur. Çalışma, tek örneklem ön test son test deneysel desen olarak desenlenmiş, nitel ve nicel veri toplama tekniklerinden yararlanılmıştır. Biyoteknoloji Tutum Ölçeği, öğretmenlerin biyoteknolojiye yönelik tutumlarını, Biyoetik Değerler Ölçeği ise öğretmenlerin biyoetik değerlerinin tespit edilmesi amacı ile uygulanmıştır. Öğretmenlerin uygulanan eğitim ile ilgili görüşlerinin belirlenmesi için ise açık uçlu sorulardan yararlanılmıştır. Çalışmadan elde edilen verilerin analizi için nitel ve nicel veri analiz tekniklerinden yararlanılmış, uygulanan ölçekler için nicel veri analizi, açık uçlu sorular için nitel veri analizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda, öğretmenlerin biyoteknolojiye yönelik tutumlarının anlamlı biçimde artış gösterdiği, genel biyoetik değerleri değişmediği ancak biyoteknolojinin yararları ile ilgili biyoetik değerlerinin anlamlı biçimde artış gösterdiği, tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca, projenin biyoteknoloji bilgilerine katkısı ve etik görüşlerine etkisi ile ilgili olumlu görüşe sahip oldukları belirlenmiştir.
It is important that teachers of science who educate future generations of scientific readers determine how much ethical values they use, in order to determine their attitudes to the biotechnological developments that are due to scientific readership and to be able to make conscious decisions on these topics. In this study, Scientific Sciences teachers have applied the Color of Biotechnology training program, which is believed to contribute to their attitudes and bioethical views of information about biotechnology, genetic engineering and sub-divisions. Sciences teachers' attitudes to biotechnology before and after study and bioethical values and educational views are determined as the purpose of study. The work group of the project was formed by 25 teachers of sciences working in private or public institutions in various provinces of Turkey. The study is designed as a single sample pre-test experimental pattern, the quality and quantitative data collection techniques are used. The biotechnology attitude scale, the teachers' attitude towards biotechnology, and the bioethical values scale are applied to identify the teachers' bioethical values. To identify the teachers’ opinions on the implemented education, open end questions were used. Qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques have been used for the analysis of the data obtained from the study, quantitative data analysis for the scales applied, qualitative data analysis for open-end questions has been performed. The study found that the teachers’ attitudes towards biotechnology significantly increased, the general bioethical values did not change but the bioethical values related to the benefits of biotechnology significantly increased. Also, it has been determined that they have a positive view on the contribution of the project to biotechnology information and the impact of its ethical opinions.
