The Hague Convention on the Law Applicable to Agency is a convention of private international law which was accepted at the Thirteenth Session of the Hague Conference on Private International Law. The aim of this Convention is to unify the rules of conflict of laws on the law applicable to agency. In this context, the Concention mainly determines law applicable to agency. According to the Convention, the law applicable to agency relationship is determined in respect of the relationship between principal and agent and, the relationship with third party. According to this, party autonomy is accepted in terms of law applicable to the relationship between principal and agent. There is no agreement on choice of law however, the law applicable to internal agency relationship is determined in respect of objective criterias. In terms of the law applicable to the relationship with third party, the restricted party autonomy is accepted in this Convention contrary to the most of law system. According to this, the law applicable to the relationship with third party may be chosen in writing by the principal or the third party as long as the other party accepts expressly the law this choices. There is no agreement on choice of law however, the law applicable to this is determined in respect of objective criterias too
