Abstract:

This study was carried out with the aim of determining the metaphors that contain the perceptions of the bachelor's students who receive a bachelor's education in the field of child development about the concept of "child developers" and studying the relationship between their personality characteristics. This study has been approved by the Ethical Board of Health Sciences of Hamidiye Scientific Research with the date of the meeting of 15/05/2020 and the resolution of 2020/5.A university located in the center of the province of Istanbul has formed a working group of 175 children development candidates who continue to study in the Department of Child Development. In the collection of data; qualitative and quantitative research methods have been used together. The personality test (STDK) is used to determine personality characteristics. To determine their perceptions towards the Child Developmental profession, the metafor form was created The metafores containing the professional perception were found by dividing the frequency and percentage of the data obtained by categories. In the analysis of the data obtained from the Personality Test (STDK) the t test, ANOVA, was used. As a result, the metaphors obtained were gathered in 10 categories, including guide, productive, protective, fun, valuable, solution-oriented, insufficient, healing, unifying, emotional. The most metaphors are included in the guiding and protective categories. According to the data obtained on personality characteristics, the STDK’s total and subpoint points have found a meaningful relationship in a positive direction between their age and their experience-opened points, which is not significantly different from gender. It has also been determined that there is a meaningful relationship between the classes they study and the STDK subpoints, and that there is a meaningful increase in the second and third classes. Another result was that there was no significant difference between the metaforic categories and the SDTK points.
