Dilsel ögelerin gücü, toplumsal kurumların ve hegemonyanın anlamsal bütünlüğünü sağlayan vesayet odakları ile yakın bir ilişki içerisindedir. Asırlarca bireyin hayal gücünün yetmediği sınırlar kutsal doktrinler yoluyla, ontolojik ve ezoterik sırlarla çevrili tehlikeli bölgeler olarak addedilmiştir. Bu kanıksanmışlığın doğurduğu dogmalar, Orta Çağ’da skolastik düşünceyi beslemiş kutsal sayılan kelama, sorgusuz bir masumiyet yüklemiştir. Böylelikle kilise, kendi kurduladığı masumiyet oyununun saç ayakları üzerinde yükselmiştir. Oysaki masumiyetin altında yatan paradigma, hâlihazırda var olan söylemin dinsel ve araçsal olan söz dizimiyle sınırlandırılması, böylelikle bireylere ait katıksız düşüncenin belirli kalıpların içerisine hapsedilmesidir. Umberto Eco'nun “Gülün Adı” adlı romanı, Orta Çağ'ın karanlığını temsil eden, söz dizimsel reflekslere duyarlı ve aydınlanma yolundaki zihinsel kodlar karşısında özenle korunan bir kütüphanede, çağın zihniyetine dayanan göstergelerle yüklüdür. Skolastik düşüncesinin dil bilimsel açıdan irdelendiği bu makalede ele alınan göstergelerin çözümlenmesi, anlatıya ait derin yapıdaki semiyotik ağın görünür kılınmasıyla mümkündür. Buradan yola çıkarak, makale boyunca bahsedilen roman ile toplumsal dil bilimi arasındaki yakın ilişki hermenötik teknikle incelenecektir. Kısacası, bu çalışmada, anlatıya ait derin yapıdaki göstergesel kodlar söylem bazında çözümlenecek, metindeki dil bilimsel unsurlar, anlatının geneline hâkim olan postmodern yaklaşım ve üretici dil bilgisiyle uyumlu bir şekilde analiz edilecektir.
The power of the linguistic objects is in close relationship with the center of knowledge which ensures the meaningful integrity of social institutions and hegemony. For centuries, the boundaries in which the individual’s imagination is not enough have been added as dangerous areas surrounded by ontological and esoteric secrets through sacred doctrines. The dogmas of this proof have nourished the schoolist thought in the Middle Ages; the sacred word has burdened an unquestionable innocence. Thus, the church has risen on the hair feet of the game of innocence it has established itself. The paradigm under that innocence is the limitation of the already existing speech to the religious and instrumental line of words, and thus the imprisonment of the unrelated thought of individuals within certain patterns. Umberto Eco's novel "The Name of the Rose" is filled with indicators based on the mentality of the age, in a library that represents the darkness of the Middle Ages, sensitive to word-series reflections and carefully protected against mental codes on the way of illumination. The analysis of the indicators discussed in this article, where the language of scolastic thought is scientifically drawn up, is possible by making visible the semiotic network in the deep structure of the narrative. Starting from here, the close relationship between the novel mentioned throughout the article and the social language science will be studied by hermetic technique. In short, in this study, the indicative codes in the deep structure of the narrative will be analyzed on the basis of speech, the scientific elements of the language in the text will be analyzed in accordance with the postmodern approach that dominates the general narrative and the knowledge of the productive language.

The dogmas born by this unconditional acceptance nurtured the scholastic darkness of the Middle Ages; it attributed a dogmatic innocence to sacred literature, the church has strengthened as the true subject of this game of innocence. The underlying paradigm, however, is to limit of rhetoric process via religious and instrumental syntax, thereby individual ideas is confined into set boundaries. Umberto Eco's novel titled "The Name of the Rose" tells us about the indicators based on the mentality of the era in a library that represents the darkness of the Middle Ages, based on syntactic reflexes and questions the mental codes on the path to enlightenment. In this article, scholastic thought is examined based on linguistics. Accordingly, the analysis of the indicators in the fiction is possible by making the semiotic structure in the deep structure of the narrative visible. In the light of this information, in this article, the relationship between this novel and social linguistics will be examined with the aid of hermeneutic. In brief, during this study, indicative codes in the deep structure of the narrative will be researched on the basis of discourse. In addition, the linguistic elements in the text will be analyzed through the postmodern and generative grammar approach that dominates the narrative.
