Yeryüzünde insanların yaşamaya başlamasıyla birlikte Yüce Allah, insanları karanlıktan aydınlığa çıkarmak, onlar arasında adaleti gerçekleştirmek, onları müjdeleyip uyarmak ve kendilerine rehberlik yapmak amacıyla peygamberler göndermiştir. Peygamberlik halkasının sonuncusu olan Hz. Muhammed zaman içerisinde şirkin merkezi haline gelen Mekke’de dünyaya gelmiştir. O, Arap Câhiliye toplumunda yetişmesine rağmen erdem, fazilet ve ahlak gibi üstün insanî vasıflarıyla ön plana çıkmıştır. Beklemediği bir esnada Ramazan ayında ilk vahiy tecrübesini yaşayan Hz. Peygamber şaşkınlık içerisinde evine gelmiş ve başından geçenleri eşine anlatmıştır. Bu olağanüstü durum karşısında olanları anlamlandıramayan Resûlullah, Hz. Hatice tarafından teskin edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Cebrâil ile karşılaşan Hz. Peygamber’in ilk vahyi nerede ve nasıl aldığı, ilk gelen âyetlerin Alak sûresinde mi, Müddesir sûresinde mi olduğu tartışılmıştır. Temel kaynaklar ışığında yapılan incelemede Allah Resûlü’nün Nur Dağı Hira mağarasında melekle karşılaştığı, insanî bir refleks olarak korkup endişeye kapılınca mağaradan hemen uzaklaşarak evine doğru Cennetü’l-me’vâ denilen yerden geçerken son ağacın yanına yani Sidre-i Müntehâ’ya gelince Alak sûresinin ilk beş âyetine muhatap olarak vahye mazhar olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
