Abstract:

This research aims to identify English language teachers’ views on teaching process practices and their self-capacities. The research is designed in the framework of the case study of the research model. The study work group was formed by 15 English teachers selected by the appropriate sampling method that worked in the Elazığ province center in the 2016-2017 educational year. The study used a semi-configured conversation form consisting of eight open end questions as a data collection tool. The data obtained from semi-configured interviews is analyzed by content analysis method. In the analysis of the interviews, the NVivo program was used. The results of the study were presented under the themes: planning and preparation of the teaching process, class participation, class management, teaching methods and techniques, evaluation of the teaching process, the negative aspects encountered in the teaching process, the aspects that teachers are thinking of developing in themselves, the improvement of the teachers’ self-capacities in the teaching process and the recommendations for their professional development.
