Bu çalışmanın amacı ilk ve ortaokul öğrencilerinin barış kavramına ilişkin algılarını metaforlar aracılığıyla tespit etmektir. Araştırmada çalışma grubunu 2019-2020 öğretim yılında Antalya ve İzmir’de öğrenim gören 512 ilkokul ve ortaokul öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Bu araştırmada ilkokul ve ortaokul öğrencilerinin, barış kavramına ilişkin sahip oldukları algıları ortaya çıkarmak için, öğrencilerin her birinden “Bana göre barış …benzer; çünkü …” cümlesini tamamlanması istenmiştir. Elde edilen verilerin değerlendirilmesinde içerik analizi tekniği kullanılmıştır. Metaforların analiz edilmesi ve yorumlanması, “adlandırma, eleme ve arıtma, kategori geliştirme aşaması, geçerlik ve güvenirliği sağlama, verileri bilgisayar ortamına aktarma” olmak üzere beş aşamada gerçekleştirilmiştir. İlköğretim öğrencileri barış kavramına ilişkin toplam 50 adet geçerli metafor üretmişlerdir. Üretilen bu metaforların 34 tanesi yalnızca iki öğrenci tarafından üretilmiş olduğu görülmektedir. Diğer 16 metaforu üreten öğrenci sayılarının ise 3 ile 512 öğrenci arasında değiştiği tespit edilmiştir. Görüldüğü gibi barış kavramına ilişkin ilk ve ortaokul öğrencileri tarafından çok sayıda metafor kullanılmıştır. Öğrenciler tarafından barış kavramına ilişkin en çok tercih edilen metaforların ‘sevgi’ olduğu görülmüştür. Araştırma bulgularına göre öğrencilerin ürettikleri metaforların hepsinin olumlu olduğu ve öğrencilerin barışı olumlu algıladıkları sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Çalışmanın demokratik okul yapısının oluşturulmasına ve barış eğitimi pratiklerine katkı sunması beklenmektedir.
The aim of this study is to identify the perceptions of primary and secondary school students about the concept of peace through metaphors. The study group consists of 512 primary and secondary school students studying in Antalya and İzmir in the 2019-2020 academic year. In this study, to reveal the perceptions that primary and secondary school students have about the concept of peace, each student was asked to complete the phrase "Peace for me ...like; because ..." In the assessment of the data obtained, the content analysis technique was used. The analysis and interpretation of the metaphors has been carried out in five stages, including "naming, elimination and processing, category development stage, validity and reliability, data transfer to the computer environment". Primary school students have produced a total of 50 current metaphors about the concept of peace. 34 of these metaphors were produced by only two students. The number of students producing 16 other metaphors varied between 3 and 512 students. As you can see, many metaphors have been used by primary and secondary school students about the concept of peace. The most popular metaphors about the concept of peace have been seen by students as 'love'. Research findings have concluded that all the metaphors that students produce are positive and that students perceive peace positively. The study is expected to contribute to the establishment of a democratic school structure and the practice of peaceful education.
