Abstract:

This study aims to develop a Career Optimism Scale (CIO) for university students. The scale materials are based on relevant literature, similar measures used in Turkey and abroad and the results of interviews with students and expert opinions. Some analyses have been made to study the validity and reliability of the measurement. The Opening Factor Analysis (AFA) was carried out on the data of 339 university students; Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin index .950 and Bartlett test found meaningful. There is a positive, meaningful and .79 correlation between the Career Future Reserve and the Career Future Scale; the low scale of Career Optimism and the Career Future Scale are also positive, meaningful and .73. The Cronbach Alfa ratio .94 was calculated to determine the reliability of the scale, while the test-up test reliability ratio for the participants was 0.85. The verifying factor analysis applied in the framework of the validity studies of the measurement has been well-compatible with the four-factor structure revealed by the opening factor analysis. It is a scale consisting of a five-like type of liquid and four factors. These findings have been discussed and presented in recommendations.
