Açık ekonomilerde ülkelerin rekabeti, düşük maliyetli ve yüksek kaliteli hizmet sektörü ürünlerine ulaşma yeteneklerine bağlıdır. Telekomünikasyon, ulaştırma ve dağıtım, finansal aracılık gibi hizmetleri kullanan ülke ya da firmalar rekabet gücü yüksek ürünler üretebilmektedirler. Bu çalışmada BRICS ülkelerinde (Brezilya, Rusya, Hindistan, Çin ve Güney Afrika) hizmet ihracatının ekonomik büyüme üzerindeki etkisi analiz edilmiştir. BRICS ülkeleri 2018 yılında, küresel GSYİH'nın yaklaşık yüzde 30’unu ve dünya nüfusunun yaklaşık yüzde 40’ını oluşturmaktadır. Söz konusu ülkeler dünya ekonomisinin büyük bir kısmını oluşturduğu için, çalışma bu açıdan önem arz etmektedir. Çalışmada 1996-2017 dönemi itibariyle yıllık veriler kullanılarak, dengeli panel veri analizi yöntemi uygulanmıştır. Analiz sonuçlarına göre, hizmet ihracatı ile ekonomik büyüme arasında pozitif yönlü bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Hizmet ihracatındaki artışlar (azalışlar) ekonomik büyümenin artmasına (azalmasına) neden olmaktadır. Çalışmadan elde edilen sonuçlar literatürdeki sonuçların büyük çoğunluğuyla uyumludur.
In the open economies, the competition of countries depends on their ability to reach low-cost and high-quality service sector products. Countries or companies using services such as telecommunications, transportation and distribution, financial mediation can produce high competitive products. This study analyzed the impact of service exports in BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) on economic growth. In 2018, BRICS countries account for approximately 30 percent of the global GDP and approximately 40 percent of the world’s population. Since the countries concerned make up a large part of the world economy, the study is of importance in this regard. In the study, using annual data from the period 1996-2017, a balanced panel data analysis method was applied. According to the analysis, there is a positive relationship between service exports and economic growth. The increase in the exports of services (salary) leads to an increase in economic growth (salary). The results obtained from the study are consistent with the vast majority of the results in literature.
The competitiveness of the countries in open economies depends on the ability of the access to low-costs and high-quality producer services. The firms or countries using the services such as telecommunications, transport and distribution, financial intermediation can produce the products which are high competitive power. In this study, the impact of service exports on economic growth has been analyzed for BRICS countries (Brasil, Russia, India, China and South Africa). BRICS countries represent almost 30% of the total gross domestic product and 40% of the World population. This study has an importance, because these countries constitute most of the world economy. The balanced panel data analyse method have been applied by using annual datas for the period of 1996-2017. According to the results of the analyse, there is a positive relationship between service exports and economic growth. An increase (decrease) in the service exports causes the increase (decrease) in the economic growth. The results which was obtained from the paper are consistent with the results of the most of studies in the literature.
