Abstract:

In addition to the change of international and national conditions, the debate that began with the Law on Landing the Farmers has accelerated the transition to the multi-party life. First the opposition parties emerged and then the power-opposition debate began. In this environment, in Turkey, different ideas have also found fans. Nationalism and communism were the first to draw attention. The subject of the study, Hasan Âli Yücel-Kenan Öner case, was also developed in the form of an extension of the 1944 Rasticism-Turancism case. In 1944, the leading names of nationalism were judged. In 1947 the national education minister of the period, Hasan Âli Yücel and Kenan Öner, was judged through the Communism and Village Institutions. The debate, which began with the parliamentary speech of the Interior Minister of the period, was burned with open letters published through the press, turned into an insult case and eventually became a fire that occupied politics, country and the press for a long time. The case began on April 17, 1947 and ended on November 19, 1947 and Kenan Öner was found innocent. The process, which lasted with the appeal, ended completely on 22 December 1949. The court’s stage has found a wide range of press.

First of all, opposition parties emerged, and then the debate between government and opposition began. In this heightened political atmosphere, different movements of thought also gained supporters in Turkey. Nationalism and Communism were the first to draw attention to these movements. The case between Hasan Âli Yücel and Kenan Öner (Yücel-Öner case) developed as an extension of the Racism-Turanism case of 1944. In 1944, the leading figures of nationalism were tried. In 1947, the then Minister of National Education Hasan Âli Yücel and Kenan Öner ended up in court over Communism and the Village Institutes. The debate, which began with the speech of the Minister of the Interior in the parliament, gradually harshened through open letters published in the press. It turned into a defamation case and eventually became a critical problem that occupied politics, the country, and the media for quite some time. The action that began on April 17, 1947 was closed on November 10, 1947 and Kenan Öner was found innocent. The process, however, continued due to the appeal of the case, and did not end wholly until December 22, 1949. The court case received widespread coverage in the press.
