Bireysel Krediler ile Enflasyon ve Cari İşlemler Açığı Arasındaki Nedensellik İlişkisi: Türkiye Örneği
2020

Abstract:

The Causal Relationship Between Individual Loans and Inflation and Search Transactions: An Example of Turkey
2020

Abstract:

Since 1959, the continued balance of payments and inflation have become a characteristic of the Turkish economy, and such a result has led to the country’s significantly external dependence. In the Turkish economy, the attempt to close domestic debt and foreign debt in general is a major problem. This situation leads to the rise of interest rates, the excess value of the domestic currency by the influence of the hot currency entering the country, and the decline of exports while consumption and imports are increasing. While the export becomes expensive, the cheapest imports lead to a car open problem. Furthermore, the exchange demand is increasing, and devaluation expectations lead to excessive growth of the exchange demand, reduced reserves, financial crises and high inflation. This study analyses the causal relationship between inflation and currency transactions in Turkey and individual loans. The study finds that from individual vehicle loans, individual housing loans, individual credit cards and individual need loans, there is no causal relationship to TUFE (inflation). The empirical findings do not provide any evidence that the increase in individual loans in Turkey has led to inflation. However, it is clear that in the direction of TÜFE, there is a one-way causal relationship to the Vehicle Loans and Credit Cards. This shows that as inflation increases in Turkey, the increase in vehicle loans and credit cards. On the other hand, from TÜFE, housing loans, credit cards and vehicle loans; one-way causal relationship to the direction of search balance has been identified. This result shows us that inflation and increased individual loans have increased the currency gap.

Causality Relationship Of Consumer Loans With Inflation and Current Account Deficit: The Case Of Turkey
2020

Abstract:

Ongoing balance of payments deficits and inflation have become characteristics of the Turkish economy since 1959 and this situation has caused the country to be foreign dependent in a significant way.  This study, which evaluates concepts of current deficits and inflation through personal loans, focuses on the relationship of individual credit with inflation and current deficits. As a result of the study, it can be seen that there is no direct relationship between Individual Vehicle Loans, Individual Housing Loans, Individual Credit Cards, and Individual Consumer Credit and the direction of CPI (inflation). This means that the empirical findings do not present any evidence that individual loans give rise to inflation in Turkey. On the other hand, it is understood that there is a single directional causality relationship from TUFE towards Vehicle Credit and Credit Cards. This situation is explained by the fact that as inflation increases, an increase takes place in vehicle credit and credit cards in Turkey. On the other hand, a single directional causality relationship from CPI, Housing Credit, Credit Cards, and Vehicle Credit in the direction of the current account balance has been determined. This situation shows us that the increases in inflation and individual credit cause the current deficit to increase.
