İnsanlar dünyayı kavramlar ile algılar ve anlamlandırır. Sosyal bilgiler dersi kavram açısından oldukça zengin bir derstir. Sosyal bilgiler dersi tarih, coğrafya, arkeoloji, hukuk, iletişim, felsefe, psikoloji gibi pek çok bilimin kavramlarını içinde barındırır. Öğrencilerin dünyayı anlama ve anlamlandırmasında bu kavramları etkili şekilde öğrenmeleri önemlidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı sosyal bilgiler 5, 6 ve 7. Sınıf ders kitaplarını kavram haritası çeşitleri açısından incelemektir. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman analizi kullanılmıştır. Doküman analizi yöntemi ile elde edilen veriler, içerik analizi ile çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda 5, 6 ve 7. Sınıf sosyal bilgiler ders kitaplarının kavram haritaları açısından eksik olduğu, kavram haritaları çeşitlerinden sadece ünite sonunda zihin haritasının kullanıldığı tespit edilmiştir. Kavram haritalarının kavram öğretiminde ve olayları olguları somutlaştırmada etkisi olduğundan daha fazladır. Farklı kavram haritası çeşitlerinin ders kitaplarında kullanılmasının kavram kalıcılığı artırmada ve kavramların aralarındaki ilişkileri tespit etme ve çözümleme açısından etkili bir yöntem olacağını düşünülmektedir.
People perceive and make sense of the world with concepts. Social studies course is a very rich course in terms of concepts. Social studies course includes the concepts of many sciences such as history, geography, archeology, law, communication, philosophy and psychology. It is important for students to learn these concepts effectively in order to understand and make sense of the world. The aim of this study is to examine the 5th, 6th and 7th grade social studies textbooks in terms of concept maps. Document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. As a result of the research, it was determined that the 5th, 6th and 7th grade social studies textbooks were lacking in terms of concept maps, and mind maps were used only at the end of the unit, among the concept maps. It is thought that making use of different types of concept maps in textbooks more than the effect of concept maps on concept teaching and concretization will be effective in terms of determining concept permanence and the relationships between them.
