Abstract:

Regular attendance of students in classes is the key to success. The aim of the research is to determine the relationship between absenteeism and academic success. Carried out with the participation of second class students of the 2019-2020 academic year. Data were obtained online through a questionnaire. Data were presented for frequency, correlation, crosstab, and content analysis. No relationship between gender and academic success has been determined. It has been found that students tend to be less absent in practical courses. 61.9 % of participants think that theoretical courses should not be attended. The number of students stating that attendance level is directly proportional to academic success is equal to the number of students expressing the opposite. The majority of the participants believe that discipline is the most important factor in success, while motivation comes second. It has been determined that planned and regular study rather than continuity is the main factor in academic success. The majority of participants believe that the reason for absenteeism in theoretical courses is the inadequacy of the course and insomnia. As a result, there was a relationship between participation in practical courses and academic success, and there was no in theoretical courses
