Manākibnāmas, the panorama of the period in which they were written, play a crucial role in the transmission of the culture, tradition, and social structure of the society through generations. Sufi manākibnāmas include information about Sufi mystical understanding, life, and thought structures, as well as the views of the Sufis on mystical concepts and subjects. With the emergence of religious orders, there has been an increase in the number of manākibnāmas. It is essential to examine, evaluate and analyze this heritage with a scholarly consciousness. In the evolution of the zuhd (asceticism) movement into Sufism and later times, Sufis made efforts to comprehend and interpret the verses in accordance with their own spirit and heart. Sufis identified some criteria for their ishari interpretations of the verses to be considered reliable and accepted the ishari interpretations made within this framework as reliable. Their attitude was aimed at eliminating excesses in interpretation and distancing from the two main sources of the religion of Islam, the Qur'an and the Sunnah. Thus, interpretations centered on the Qur'an and the Sunnah, which have a basis in Islam, do not contradict the literal meaning and do not prioritize themselves have been respected. The aim of this study is to make a comparison by revealing the explanations of Sufis with different Sufi behaviors about the concepts and subjects that constitute the content of the science of Sufism in the manākibnāmas, which have a crucial place in the literature of Sufi history, and to examine ishari interpretations of the verses they include in these explanations by including the literal meanings. As a result of the study, the meaning of the concepts and subjects, and the nature of the views on the methods related to seyr-i sülûk have been revealed. It is noteworthy that there is an increase in literal interpretations on subjects that are important in terms of Sufi thought (e.g. nafs (self), heart, muhabbetullah (love of Allah), dhikr, etc.). In this study, document review model was used within the scope of qualitative research, and document analysis method was used to collect data.
