Abstract:

In Turkish, which is one of the agglutinative languages, a word can sometimes be reduced to a single sound as a root, provided that it is vowel. Along with the investigations, it has been revealed that many words that are considered as roots due to the mixing of some constructional suffixes with the root, are not actually roots but consist of stems. In this study, the derivatives of the verb kö-, which is considered as a hypothetical root, are discussed. The root verb is "to bind" by some researchers. hypothetical meanings such as "to burn" or "to rise, to be high" are given. In this study, according to some researchers, "navel, sky, lake, dog (many, more), bridge, crippled; bub (rise), take away, froth (inflate), froth”, foam “too much” and foam- “to swell; multiply, increase, etc. The words are considered as stems derived from the root *kö- hypothetical. Based on these words, which are thought to be derivatives of the root verb in question, “to rise, to raise; to pick up; meanings such as “inflate, inflate” are given. In the introduction part of the study, information about the root term is given and the views of some researchers about the verb *kö- are mentioned. In the main text “to rise, to raise; to pick up; The noun and verb stems, which are thought to be derived from the root verb, which means "to inflate, to inflate", are discussed. In the conclusion part, the subject discussed has been subjected to a general evaluation.
