Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to study the interests of Turkish teachers candidates in foreign student issues in terms of various variables. In the research conducted in the scan model from Nicel methods, the data collection tool was developed by Polatcan, Bozkırlı and Er (2018) in the likert type of "Foreign Student Problems Interest Scale". The scale of interest in cultural issues consists of 7 items, interest in socio-economic issues 6 items, interest in non-class issues 5 items and interest in interclass issues 3 items, including 4 factors and 21 items. The universe of research, in the 2018-2019 educational year, is formed by 167 Turkish teachers candidates who study in the Turkish Education Main Science Department of the Sinop University School of Education. The examples of the study are made up of 126 Turkish teachers candidates who voluntarily filled the scale. The appropriate sample method has been used when the sample is created. The average interest rate of Turkish teachers candidates in foreign students' issues was 3.67. In the analysis of the obtained data, the research resulted in the use of the statistical package program that the Turkish teachers candidates were highly interested in foreign student issues; but their interests were found to have sex, class level and a foreign national friend and/or not statistically significantly differentiated according to their circumstances. The interests of the Turkish teacher from the candidate to the foreign student's problems are not statistically different according to the variable of foreign language knowledge. Nevertheless, students who know foreign languages from teachers candidates have been found to be more related to students’ problems than those who do not know foreign languages.
