Purpose: Type 3 autoimmune polyendocrinopathy syndrome (OPS) is defined as an association of autoimmune thyroid disease with another autoimmune disease without Addison disease. If the patient has an autoimmune gastrointestinal disease, the clinical table is defined as type 3b OPS. This study was aimed at examining the frequency of type 3b OPS in patients diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in childhood. Tools and Methods: 232 men with 446 T1D children followed from 01.06.2013 to 01.08.2019 were taken to work. Hashimoto thyroiditis (HT) with a positive anti-TPO and/or anti-Tg positive and autoimmune enteropathy was identified with the presence of histology compatible with the thyroid disease (HH) in a thin intestinal biopsy followed by the anti-type transglutaminase Ig A positive. Results: HH was detected in 61 patients (13.7 percent) and 34 percent (7.6 percent). In 87 of the patients (19,5%) had HT or CH, while in the same patient both HT and CH presence (type 3b OPS) only 3 of the girls 4 patients (0.9%) were detected. Patients with type 3b OPS have a T1D diagnosis age less compared to those who have only HT or CH and who do not have both diseases (p=0,087). Results: About one fifth of children with T1D diagnosed in childhood have been diagnosed with HT or CH, while type 3b OPS frequency has been found to be quite rare.
