Bu araştırmada, Saimbeyli ilçesi ile Gürleşen-Tülü köyleri (Adana) arasında kalan alan içinde yüzeyleyen birimlerin detaylı petrografik ve stratigrafik incelenmesi yapılmıştır. İnceleme alanında temelde Ordovisiyen yaşlı şeyl, şistli şeyl ardalanmasından oluşan Armutludere formasyonu yer almaktadır. Bu birim üzerine Erken Devoniyen yaşlı kumtaşı, çamurtaşı, şeyl, killi kireçtaşı ardalanması ile temsil olunan Ayıtepesi formasyonu uyumsuz olarak gelmektedir. Ayıtepesi formasyonu üzerinde uyumlu olarak Orta Devoniyen yaşlı dolomitize kireçtaşlarından oluşan Şafaktepe formasyonu yer almakta olup, bu birim üzerine Geç Devoniyen yaşlı kumtaşı, şeyl, kireçtaşı ardalanması ile Gümüşali formasyonu uyumlu olarak gelmektedir. Genellikle kireçtaşları ile temsil edilen Permiyen yaşlı Yığılıtepe formasyonu, Gümüşali formasyonu üzerinde uyumsuz olarak yer almaktadır. Bu formasyon üzerine kumtaşı, marn, killi kireçtaşından oluşmuş Triyas yaşlı Katarası formasyonu uyumlu olarak gelmektedir. Gri, bej renkli kireçtaşlarından oluşan Jura-Kretase yaşlı Köroğlutepesi formasyonu, Katarası formasyonu üzerinde uyumsuz olarak gelmektedir. İnceleme alanından derlenen numunelerden hazırlanan 21 adet ince kesit üzerinde yapılan petrografik çalışmalar sonucunda bölgedeki kırıntılı çökellerin genellikle düşük enerjili bir ortamda işlendiği ve kum boyu bileşenlerin iyi yıkanmadığı, karbonat kayaçların ise genellikle mikrosparitik özellikte olduğu ortaya konulmuştur.

Petrographic studies on 21 thin pieces prepared from samples collected from the review area have found that the crushed crushes in the area are usually processed in a low-energy environment and the sand-long components are not washed well, and carbonate stones are often in microsparicity.
In this research, detailed petrographic and stratigraphic examinations of the units in the area between Saimbeyli and Gürleşen-Tülü villages (Adana) were presented. In the study area, Ordovician aged shale and schist shale alternation of the Armutludere formation form the basement. The Ayıtepesi formation, which consists of an alternation of Early Devonian aged sandstone, mudstone, shale and clayey limestone unconformably overlies this unit. Above, the Şafaktepe formation, which composed of the Middle Devonian dolomitized limestones conformably overlying Ayıtepesi formation. On top of this unit, the Gümüşali formation consisting of an alternation of Late Devonian aged sandstone, shale, limestone deposited concordantly. The Permian age Yığılıtepe formation consisting of limestones is discordant on the Gümüşali formation. The Lower Triassic age Katarası formation composed of sandstone, marl and clayey limestone overlies this formation concordantly. The Jura-Cretaceous age Köroğlutepesi formation, consisting of grey and beige limestones, is unconformably sitting on the Katarası formation. As a result of petrographic studies carried out on 21 thin sections compiled from the region, it was revealed that clastic sediments in the area are generally re-worked in a low-energy environment, sand-rich components are not washed well and most of the carbonate rocks in the region are microsparitic.
