Abstract:

The essence of this study is the tribal census registered at the Ankara Regional Directorate of Manuscripts with number A 9166. In this study, which consists of 112 leaves and 224 pages, there are tribes, names, settlements, semi-nomadic or nomadic and populations that spread to Baghdat, Mosul, Diyarbakır, Erzurum, Adana, Aleppo, Syria, Jerusalem, Adana, Konya Menteche provinces. In our calculation, a population of more than 2.000.000 has been determined. On the other hand, after the intoduction of the manuscript, the spreading areas of the tribes, their legal status, eoconomic and social situation, the taxes they are obliged to pay in this context, and their contribution to the transportation services in the supply of food for the army were examined. The distinctive features of the tribes living the nomadic lifestyle, their conflicts with thes ettled people from time to time, and their banditry movements come to thefore.
