Abstract:

Today, the negative effects of intense business life on people are increasing. Individuals have begun to prefer open green spaces in which they can interfere with nature in order to be less affected by negative conditions and to be able to renew themselves faster. Therefore, individuals prefer urban parks where they can meet their recreational needs. The most important possibility the city parks offer to users is the availability of the park. The more the park is available, the more the number of users and the more the frequency. The comfort facilities offered to the user within the park area also significantly affect the time and frequency of the recreation. In this study; within the city settlement area of Bartin, eight city parks have been selected in different distances and functions from the city center, and the urban equipment in these parks has been addressed to the conformity (comfort) of people to the anthropometric dimensions, the location and privacy of the equipment in the parks. The study focused on three topics: (i) the socio-demographic characteristics and personal space preferences of users, (ii) the reasons for the preference of selected parking areas and (iii) the availability of parking areas and the ergonomics of the equipment elements. According to the results obtained, recommendations for personal space distance have been developed by assessing the user comfort and the quality of the equipment elements.
