Abstract This research was carried out to determine the scientific epistemological beliefs of science teacher candidates. The research was applied to 616 students studying in the Science Education program of different Turkish public universities in the 2018-2019 school academic year. In this research, field survey and cross-sectional survey models, one of the descriptive research methods in the quantitative research approach were employed. In order to explore the demographic structure of teacher candidates “Personal Information Form” was used by the researcher. Additionally, to develop a scientific epistemological belief scale, firstly the item pools were prepared by the researcher and later some of statements were eliminated according to the results of the pilot study as well as panel judge views. Finally, the Scientific Epistemological Belief Scale was given into its final shape by running factor analyzes based on the data obtained from the conducted study.
