Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to determine which sources of information and why they prefer in order to access academic knowledge for high school students. For this purpose, the high school students were asked to rank which sources of information they prefer in achieving academic knowledge according to the level of importance through bilateral comparisons and was scaled by Thurstone's V. Hal equation. The study is designed to reveal the existing situation in the form of a visual research. The measurement study 698 was carried out on the basis of data obtained from 100 high school students. In the scale study, the first source that high school students prefer to access academic knowledge is the specialists/learners and the scale value is 1,058. The second preferred source is the Internet, with a scale value of 0.956. The scale of the books, which are the third preferred source of information, is 0.546, and is quite far from the internet and the frequency of preference of experts. The fourth place is TV with a scale of 0.228 and the fifth place is co-workers with a scale of 0,000. The first three reasons for students to choose an internet source is that it is easy and fast accessible, has a wide range of coverage and is a reliable source of information. The first three reasons for the book’s preference are reliable knowledge, broad scope and students’ learning preferences. It is easy and fast accessibility for the co-resource, the ability to communicate comfortably and that students have a common goal. The reliable knowledge, interaction and experience for the television are defined as reliable knowledge, interaction and experience for the specialist while the attention is attracted and the students have learning preferences. To be able to access more secure and reliable information than the Internet is a preferred source of information, both families and students should be trained in the field of information literature and media literature, especially from young age.
